Outdoor recreation is just one reason to promote sustainable forestry and land management practices.
Our appreciation for the outdoors and our public land is a value shared across the political and socioeconomic spectrum in our region. We can build on these shared values to bring economic vitality back to Northeast California.
The Outdoor Industry Association says, "Outdoor recreation is a vital economic force that not only creates billions in spending and millions of good-paying American jobs, but also creates healthier communities, healthier economies and healthier people."
This trade group has put together reports for each congressional district in the country, and for California's First Congressional District, they report that residents of our district spend nearly $2 billion each year on outdoor recreation, and nearly a third of our outdoor activities take place within 30 minutes of home.
